PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Musika Nova is strongly invested in encouraging performers to program works by living composers. The group offers a multitude of performance opportunities throughout the year, including Fresh Ink recitals, on collaborative concerts with the art department in Groot Gallery, during collaborations with the dance department's Friday Night Lights series, improvisation ensemble concerts, and on other informal recitals showcasing new music.
COMPOSER/PERFORMER COLLABORATIONS
Musika Nova provides a place for collaborative music-making to happen. Perhaps one of the most important experiences for performers and composers of new music is to work together on crafting a new piece idiomatic to the performer's capabilities and the composer's aesthetic.
IMPROV/NEW MUSIC
ENSEMBLE MEMBERSHIP
Musika Nova hosts a resident group of improvisers currently who perform on a semi-regular basis. In the upcoming year, the formation of a regularly rehearsing New Music Ensemble will be a goal of the group. This ensemble will be by audition and will be available to all St. Olaf performing musicians/vocalists.
